I was logged in with username 'planning'. I put my laptop into sleep, thus closing the connection not so nicely. When I restarted the program again I picked the same name, however it said it was taken and I could not pick that name.
after sending a few messages it closed out 'planning' and then I could pick that name. It would seem that they were not removed from the list until we tried to send a message. So we can't tell if someone crashes until messages are sent and the server realizes the connection is dead.
