#42 auto-complete disable option

In some circumstances (i.e. large models with imports) auto-completion (on a Mac) slows things down quite a lot. I couldn't find where to "disable" auto complete for words when typing. So either improve performance, or allow one to disable the feature :-). In particular, it sometimes froze the IDE before I could save, hence loosing work!
