As far as open source projects go, I don't know of any using Tibco::Rv, probably because Tibco itself is not open source, and is really more of a big-ticket corporate software package. But, I do know that Tibco::Rv is being used internally at various companies, because I get emails once in a while. The mailing list never really got used, and so any communication has been by my personal email. Personally, I no longer work with Tibco on a day-to-day basis, so I haven't been actively developing Tibco::Rv. I certainly would, though, if there was interest. I do have plans for further development -- specifically, I'd like to remove its dependence on Inline::C and just go with a more standard perl XS interface; and, there have been various additions to more recent versions of Tibco, so I'd like to incorporate those. Since today, the users and developers of XULAdmin are able to control verbosity level in logging output to Firefox's error console. Also, logging is non-verbose by default. The corresponding line in Firefox profile directory in file prefs.js is: user_pref("extensions.cyclone3XULAdmin.preferences.logLevel", 0); To enable logging change increment the number from 0 to increase verbosity. Value of 1 should do for the moment. In future development, the log() function has an optional parameter. If this parameter is set, the verbosity level is compared with this parameter. For the message to display, the parameter must be lower or equal to verbosity level. log(message, loglevel) If the loglevel parameter is not specified, the message is automatically considered highest priority (loglevel = 1) Jakub Ondrusek |

Finally, XULadmin has been released for Firefox3. Some new feautures have been implemented (SVG graphical statistics, XML and CSV exports), some are currently being worked on (improved spellchecking, OpenDocument export) and there are plans for more (check the roadmap). Major glitches that needed to be fixed were: - dropped SOAP support (now replaced by a simple "soapy" object in soap_core.js) - most context menus are now open using openPopup method (as opposed to changing the "contextmenu" attribute on the fly) - Firefox3 required explicit namespaces in XML - opening a Document in design mode & hook event handlers to it in html editor - the code could do with some cleaning up Download Links & Repository: https://downloads.cyclone3.org/C3XULadmin3.xpi https://addons.mozilla.org/sk/firefox/addon/8048 http://svn.cyclone3.org/trunk/xuladmin3 Linked Article at Cyclone3.org: http://www.cyclone3.org/article/61-XULadmin-for-Firefox3-released Current Roadmap: http://www.cyclone3.org/contribute/development/roadmap |

You can direct commit all your changes how translations are, all other patches you can consult with us in mailinglist or on IRC channel. What do you think? Hi All, Cyclone3 Framework runs fine with mod_fastcgi, but in most of GNU/Linux distribution is this Apache module marked as obsolete or removed. It's because here is a new and compatible mod_fcgid and in Apache 2.2.* is mod_fastcgi unstable. But, here is one problem with mod_fcgid. I have it reported to developers, added into bugzilla's but without any answer. Problem description: Cyclone3 is using index script named core.tom in every one domain. Because this script is same in every domain, it's just a symlink to file /www/TOM/.core/tom3. When mod_fcgid receives request to fastcgi process, checks if it is not already running process. This check is based on script location, BUT tracks source of symlinks. So, when I'm running two domains: domain.tld and localhost.tld which every has in !www directory symlink core.tom to /www/TOM/.core/tom, mod_fcgid thinks, it's the same process and for every domain returns same pages :) This problem can be solved by simple patch for mod_fcgid, but I can't say if mod_fcgid developers is responsible to commit our patch. Peter Drahos, can you please look at this problem? Thanx. -- Roman Fordinal |

Hi All, Vote for Cyclone3! :) -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [SourceForge] Get your users to vote for you! Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2007 15:03:23 -0700 (PDT) From: SourceForge.net Team re...@so...> To: rom...@co... Greetings, Project admins: The nomination phase for our 2007 Community Choice Awards has begun, and it won't be long before the winners are chosen. We've put voting links on many of your project's pages, but now it's time for you to do your part. Ask for your users' votes in your project blogs, mailing lists, forums, or web pages, to ensure that your project makes the final ballot! Trust me, it'll make a big difference. If you win, your project will be highlighted on SourceForge.net and you will be included in our press release. And, as if that weren't enough, you'll be recognized during our awards party at OSCON. Oh, and you'll get an entire year's supply of bragging rights. But here's the catch: There are only a few short weeks left. That means it's time for you to ask your user communities for their vote. I have no doubt that your project has a vibrant community of users and supporters, and each and every last one of them surely wants you to win. They just need a little bit of encouragement from you. Thanks, The SourceForge.net Team |

Resp. is there some documentation re the protocol > Cyclone is using? Current state of Cyclone3 documentation is not very usable, but XML protocol to communicate with Cyclone3 backend is very simple. Cyclone3 XULadmin is a XUL frontend, and Cyclone3 Framework is a framework running on GNU/Linux server. Configured domain service can communicate with Cyclone3 XULadmin using XML protocol to manage another domain service (webpage typically). Authentification is described in .htacces and SSL protocol is supported. All requests to back-end is sended using standard GET and POST method. All variables is unencrypted, none XML protocol in request is used. Responses is in XML, and here is a example of list: <response IDapp="a400" type="list" code="DD7s7DQ9"> <setup> ... </setup> <header> ... </header> <item IDitem="1"> ... </item> <item IDitem="2"> ... </item> </response> or response after action: <response IDapp="a400" type="active" IDitem="1" result="0"> <result>0</result> <reason> Not enough information to act. Missing parameter 'db_active' </reason> </response> XML protocol is application oriented, also every application (articles, polls, site-map, forums,...) can handle actions by own way. Because we changed architecture from application oriented to add-ons oriented (add-ons can be applications and extension) the new way how-to create response in new developed add-ons is to inform about add-on: request: http://cyclone.example.tld/?type=a401_article_cat_list ('type' is a name of 'type of service' in 'domain service') <response addon="a401" addon_type="article_cat" type="list" required_status="" code="QDiSXNd8" required_ID=""> <location>/</location> <item IDitem="1"> <ID>1</ID> <ID_entity>1</ID_entity> <IDparent></IDparent> <name>test</name> <name_url>test</name_url> <path></path> <datetime_create>2007-04-27 23:16:16</datetime_create> <lng>en</lng> <status>Y</status> <folder>Y</folder> </item> <item IDitem="2"> <ID>2</ID> <ID_entity>2</ID_entity> <IDparent></IDparent> <name>Root article</name> <name_url>Root-article</name_url> <path></path> <datetime_create>2007-04-29 21:47:34</datetime_create> <lng>en</lng> <status>Y</status> <folder></folder> </item> </response> |

Hi Michael, Your Yulup looks very interesting. The most interesting feature is integrated XML editor. We in Cyclone3 have started process of 'articles' rewrite and we want to store content in DocBook. But we not still having any XML editor to use it in XUL environment. What do you think? Is possible to use your souce code from yulup, or we can discuss about merge development process of Cyclone3 and Yulup? -- Roman Fordinal |
