This basic (frequently used) command merits a shortcut (middle-click? ctrl+click?) in addition to availablity via a context menu

Good idea. Middle clicking over hyperlink to open in new tab sounds good.
Now I have to go searching my logitech mouse from garage :-)
(my development laptop has only touchpad)
