expected behavior: display JUST this image (or, preferably/alternately, display JUST this image in a new tab)

related usability issue:
If +/- controls are used when viewing just an image (e.g. url in addressbar reads blahblah/blah.jpg)
i wish the zoomlevel chosen during image viewing would be forgotten/discarded when I navigate away from the image, to another URL

  That's actually bug of 1.6.4. In 1.6.3 it did exactly what you requested.
  
  I did major code rewrite between these two version and I missed that little thing.
  Patch will follow as soon as I have compiled newest Qt 5 and tested it.

Fixed now in PATCH_CyberDragon_1.6.4_Logger_and_other.zip. It now opens image in new tab
