Python2 has been deprecated for years, could streamline the code.

Are #13, #14 and this ticket duplicates?
Can I just work on the CXX.zip from one of them?

There is a lot more then Python 2 removal in these changes.
I would like prefer to get this as a patch series with one change at at time.
For the usually reasons of its easier to review and not missing issues.
