I have a Linux PC that is mostly RedHat 6.2.

root:[/usr/local/src/CXX-5.0b/Demo]# gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/egcs-2.91.66/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)

After installing CXX from /usr/local/src/CXX-5.0b, I changed directory to Demo. The following happened:

root:[/usr/local/src/CXX-5.0b/Demo]# python setup.py install
running install
running build
running build_py
warning: build_py: package init file './__init__.py' not found (or not a
regular file)

creating build/temp.linux-i586-2.0
gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fpic -I/usr/include/python2.0 -c

PyCXX works with GCC 2 and GCC 3 now

I suspect that the problem was egcs template support problems.
