This release fixes several bugs. Xz decompression is performed on the fly. The terminal command is configurable. Some minor enhancements.

Accidentally, a wrong tarball has been uploaded.

xplorer-0.9.0.tar.gz has a bug. When compiled against XFree make fails, complaining about various undeclared XK_* symbols.

To fix this, replace cxxx/CTopLevelWindow.cpp, line 43:

include <X11/keysymdef.h> // for IsModifierKey, IsFunctionKey

with:

include <X11/keysym.h>

This issue has been fixed in xplorer-0.9.0a.tar.gz

Version 0.9.0 uses wide chars internally to store and display text.

This allows for virtually any 8 bit character encoding, including UTF-8.

File type detection for OpenDocument files has been added, now 290 different file types are recognized.

Xplorer 0.8.1 is now available as Fedora 7 rpm. Xplorer and C++X are distributed as seperate packages. You have to download both in order to get Xplorer to work.
The rpms are provided by Eugene Pivnev.

Version 0.8.1 improves navigation. Up, back and forward have been added to the main menu. They are accessable via shortcut (Feature Request #1808140).
Xplorer now keeps track of the latest visited directories and makes them available in the main menu.
Some minor bugs have been fixed.

Version 0.7.0 adds an icon view option to the list field.
GUI configuration settings are applied immediately.
Xplorer no longer issues warnings when run with a pristine configuration directory.
The superuser may change file ownership to any existing user and group.

Version 0.6.4 decompresses bip2'ed files to figure out the filetype and in preparation to opening such files. Such files are decompressed transparently.
Files in tape archives (tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2) are treated like ordinary (read-only) files. Retrieving information, viewing, copying/pasting and even drag'n'drop of files inside such archives is possible.

Version 0.6.2 focuses on better usability. Mouse wheels are now supported. It is now possible to navigate through the files with the arrow keys. pressing a key in the listview now selects the next file starting with the corresponding letter.
Font selection has been refined to avoid loading fonts with missing glyphs.
Startup notification used by some windowmanagers is now handeled.

Xplorer is a filemanager for POSIX systems using X Windows. It is designed to detect filetype fast but accurate, using both file magic and file name/suffix. In the package included is a GUI toolkit library, written from scratch, to minimize dependencies (All you need is a working X Window System and a recent C++ compiler). This library (C++X) provides a 3 D look to applications using it. The package is prepared for internationalization with gettext. It offers Drag 'n' Drop (XDnD) support and uses the X clipboard mechanism to cut and paste files, so communication with other X applications is possible. This application loads and runs fast and uses little desktop space.
NEW IN VERSION 0.4.4 is DnD and a context menu for the treeview, bugfixes and some minor enhancements in the behavior of the treeview. Plain text in ASCII, iso8859 and utf8 encoding is now correctly recognized.
