Glad to hear you got it working. Just so that others who might run into 
this problem have something to look at in the archives and so that I 
understand it a bit better, could you answer a few questions?

1) what was the clearer error message that was displayed when running 
Python from the command line?

2) What did you do after the installation of pywin32-202.win32-py2.3 
that caused it to "link OK" aginst Oracle 8i's oci.dll?
