I would like to know if it is possible to add into WinCVS
and MacCVS a new column on file viewer area to show
who is the "watcher", when s/he added the watch and
the name of the computer of the watch were added of
each file?
This would be special on managing binary files where is
not possible to two or more people to change the same
file.
When marking a file with Reserved Edit, a locking and a
watch is added to the file. But the only way to the
other persons of the team to know if some file is
reserved to someone is the menu option "Trace-
>Watchers" (or its respective toolbar button) that has
its output only in verbose mode.
When you have a lot of files into a lot of folders, the
verbose mode is not so much user-friendly. Mainly for
people that does not have a development background,
like translators.
So, if these information were avaiable on file area (in
the columns) this information would be more usable.
If were possible to add an option to avoid people to
EDIT a file already marcked as RESERVED EDIT (file that
have already a lock or watch) would be pretty good too.
Cheers,
Ricardo Jr.

Information not available offline, may be need to make a
new view just for that actually.
Unlikely to get much attention however.

The information is not available offline, but the information
can be updated recursively when clicking the
button "Watchers".
To inform that this information is not updated, the default
value of this columns could it be "needs update".
Or a General Option could be added to setup WinCVS to
update these columns every X minutes (or fraction), running
the wachers command automatically.
I'm depending on this to be able to use CVS at my work.
Unfortunately I don't have enough VS C++ skill to do it my
self :-(

It's acceptable to keep updating the iformation like that,
it would generate too much traffic.
Why not just setup the email notification which is already
available instead of wasting time on talking about some
very unlikely developed feature?
And if you have a lot of binary files then CVS is not the
right tool anyway.
