Hi there, I am using Solaris 9 X86. Compiled with: --enable-setuid --without-gssapi I also have changed the lockpasswd.c. Because while compilation I got errors with HOSTNAMELEN. I erased the ifdef statement around netdb.h. Also I have changed #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash of the configure script. As I have run in errors with Solaris bourne shell. I can add a user with: cvs -d /my_virtual_repo passwd -a cvsadminbase -u \ cvsadminbase.cvsadminbase -m cvs...@an... I can also enable the user and the parameter in cvspasswd will change to "Enable". If I want to delete the user with: cvs -d /my_virtual_repo -x cvsadminbase I get: cvs [passwd abourted]: User cvsadminbase not found Any idea? Greetings Heiko |

Could someone out there help me out of this one. I have setup cvs-nserver, on a linux box, and configured it to use virtual users and pserver for authentication. I can successfully set up the virtual user accounts and passwords ( using cvschkpw for authentication ) However when I try to login as the virtual user I get the following error : #>>$ cvs -d :pserver:myadmin@135.86.68.166:2401/home/cvsadmin/NSERVER_REPOS login Logging in to :pserver:myadmin@135.86.68.166:2401/home/cvsadmin/NSERVER_REPOS CVS password: cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server 135.86.68.166: Connection reset by peer I do get the same error when I enter either a correct or incorrect password. Hi there, perhaps anyone out there can help me. I'm getting stuck for hours now, and can't even imagine a way to get it working now. I've tried anything, I believe possible. I compiled the actual 1.11.1.4 version. installed to /usr. I've set up the repositories /CVS/PHP /CVS/JAVA and did a cvs init on them. Now I've compiled the checkpassword-pam package to use the pam to authenticate against a win2k domain. As you can see it's up an running: --cut-- root@cvsserver:~ # echo -e "econe\\jrosenthal\0steeler#\00"|checkpassword-pam -s cvspserver --stdin --stdout --debug Reading username and password Username 'econe\jrosenthal' Password read successfully Initializing PAM library using service name 'cvspserver' Pam library initialization succeeded conversation(): msg[0], style PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_OFF, msg = "Password: " Authentication passed Account management succeeded Setting PAM credentials succeeded Terminating PAM library Exiting with status 0 --/cut--- So it should be posible to get the server up, but I can't figure out how to set up the script to handle the network connection. Hi, the sourceforge page of cvs-nserver say: * authentication layer is separated from other parts of CVS subsystem. This allows very flexible authentication setups: + virtual repositories: entire repository runs under only two system accounts, and is completely manageable over the network. You also can have several repositories with their very own list of users on single machine; Can you explain me (or send me the exact page of the manual that explain...) how set more repository and the user that can access each repository? I don't find it into the manual. Thank you very much and Best Regards. Fabrizio |

'cvs-nserver' binary itself is strictly experimental one (it works, but there is no need in it in real environments), and I believe it would be dropped at the next major release of cvs-nserver. You have to use 'cvs-pserver' protocol frontend binary somehow: either tell your vendor to repackage the cvs-nserver, or compile it yourself. Good luck, and don't forget about debugging features of checkpassword-pam. (And the Adminitrator's Guide could help also, available on the homepage.) Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. --alexm |

Hi, Does anybody know how to set-up a cvs pserver to authenticate against A NT/windoze2k box? (ignoring local /etc/passwd) I think it requires some combination of: 1. smb_pam (which I have working correctly, checked against = /var/log/secure) 2. checkpassword-pam (which I have now got compiled and working) 3. xinitd 4. a meaningful /etc/pam.d entry and a little bit of luck... But how should I best combine them so that it all works? Any pointers would really be appreciated... :-) Is cvs-nserver even pserver compatible? My (rpm, PLD) distro only came = with cvs-nserver and no cvs-pserver. Thanks, Simon. |
