The SetEncoding function mixes the option applied to the curl session: setting encoding to identity sets the curl option to deflate and viceversa.

Hello, Mario -

Yes, I can confirm that this is indeed a bug!

However, the curlpas project is no longer actively maintained,
so don't look for a new release any time soon. The attached
patch should solve the problem for anyone who needs it.
