I was using curlftps under ubuntu 13.4 and it worked like a charm. Lightning fast (the ftp server is in local LAN). I upgraded to 13.10 and now it is extremly slow (transfer speeds of arounf 50KB/s, while in the past I got 10MB/s).
Any hints? Maybe delete all fiels and reinstall?
    Thank you!

    Same problem here
    Hello

I have been having a problem lately and cannot find a way to fix it by myself. Maybe some of you can.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit with curlftpfs.

I am mounting an FTP connection and it is working.
Connection is at 1 Gb/s at first and I am able to copy from the mount point with about 80-90 MB/s.
The problem is, after some time the speed will degrade badly, going as slow as 100-200 KB/s.
In the same time, if I connect to the FTP without using the mount point, the speed will be as expected, around 80-90 MB/s
Both machines are on the same network, connected to the same router (gigabit)
A reboot will fix the speed, that is until the speed will drop again without any visible cause.
CPU usage is low, network usage is low, I have free available RAM. I am out of ideas.

Any clue what can cause this behavior?

I also find curlftpfs extremely slow (around 500 kB/s) on my Linux Mint 16 KDE. If I use Dolphin with ftp:// protocol to do the same file transfer, speed goes up to 3,9 MB/s (I'm using a 802.11g WLAN, so I don't think I can go faster).
I was wondering why curlftpfs is so slow... I don't think it's normal.

    Hi,

Same issue here unfortunatly. Hope they will fix it very soon. The issue happen also with Ubuntu Server 16.04.

I also contribute to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curlftpfs/+bug/1267749 as kfolz suggest above.
