I also got this error every time I try to use CUERipper 2.1.6 with my Pioneer BDR-XD05. I confirmed it's fixed for my drive in CUETools/CUERipper 2.2.2. The changelog says it has also been fixed for BDR-XD07U since 2.2.0. No idea about the other drives mentioned by previous commenters.
Just chiming in with a "me too". I got this error every time I try to use CUERipper 2.1.6 with my Pioneer BDR-XD05. It seems to be an issue with CUERipper and Pioneer external BD drives. EAC works fine with them. I am trying CUERipper 2.2.2 now, and so far, it seems to be doing better. I will edit this post if the problem continues in 2.2.2.

Just got this. Win 10 pro, up to date. It got past detecting gaps, then ripped for a good couple of minutes, but crashed multiple times. Tried quitting/restarting CUEripper, found that it was still visible in TaskManager after quitting (new instance couldn't open disc drive). Win10 reboot fixed the problem. Pioneer BDR-XD07B w/USB3.0 connection. Lenovo "tiny" format i5 desktop.

libFLAC not an output option in CUETool 2.1.7
It happened again in Burst mode. In Secure mode it works, but reports extractions as not accurate.

It seems that it is working now using v2.1.5. Maybe a windows update fixed it. But CD rips are reported as not accurate. I created a new ticket: bug #51

Is it possible to run it on systems other than Windows?
Anything new? Why is CUERipper working with the CD drive in Windows 7 but not in Windows 10?
It's a LG drive: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H66N CB00
Well, generally it works on Windows 10 of course. But i've heard reports before about some CD drives being incompatible. What is the model of your CD drive?
Exception on Windows 10
ACCURATERIPID and ACCURATERIPDISCID tags swapped or confusingly named
Also getting this error with a PIONEER BD-RW BDR-XS06. I was able to rip successfully with this drive using EAC.
