Hello all, I have an exciting announcement to make: our much anticipated *infrastructure upgrade* is complete! We have retired our old, ancient build server (circa 2007) and replaced it with a newer server consisting of two 8 core hyper threaded Intel Xeon processors (that's 32 logical cores), 64 GB of RAM and 5 TB of usable storage. This new build server will enable us to maintain up to four versions of Cucumber Linux at a time; previously, we could maintain only two. This means we now have the infrastructure in place to start building the official Cucumber Linux 2.0 release, which segues nicely to my next point. We are currently 75% of the way done with updating the *phase 2 packages* for Cucumber Linux 2.0. Here's my rough plan: My hope is to have them done next week. Once all the phase 2 packages and lfscript (https://github.com/cucumberlinux/lfscript) are updated, I will do an initial experimental build of Cucumber Linux 2.0. After that is done, we will tweak the phase 2 packages and begin converting/updating the phase 3 packages. After all of that is done, I will do a full rebuild of the distribution and that will hopefully become the final Cucumber Linux 2.0 release. Keep in mind that this is just a plan, and as Winston Churchill said plans are useless, but planning is essential. - Scott |
