To-do item someday soon
For example, on http://www.cubrid.org/developers or somewhere else, how about providing sub-project and its introduction?
Chinese team is about to create CUBRID Interface project on sf.net, deveoping various curbid APIs as well as CUBRID manager project. Being prepared for that, we can consider to make a new space to introduce each sub-projects and to gather project news easily from each sub-project owner so that users can see what's going on in this world.
currently, as you know that
main source trunk to be merged from sub-projects is dev.naver.com/projects/cubrid
and its source codes become sync to sourceforge.net/projects/cubrid.
engine project is going on Trac on sf.net/projects/cubrid.
cluster project is going on sf.net on sf.net/projects/cubridcluster. It will be soon merged to the main repository for later version.
docs and apps project by us is going on ~~.
Please find attached a image of how we see the new apps section so
that it will support many projects in a user-friendly manner.
This should be the starting point for the new Apps&Tools section.
As we have more and more projects we should add a project search module,
a lateral module with "Popular Apps", etc. Please let me know if you
have more ideas so that i can sketch the page before we start any
development for it.
When a project will be selected it would send the user to the
specific app page. I liked the way it is done in:
http://dev.naver.com/projects/cubrid and I think it is the best approach.
We will try to create a custom module for XE for this that would be
configurable from the administrators panel. We will give a time estimate
for this after we create a list of all the features needed for this
module. Please let us know what functionalities you would like to have
for this module.
Let me know what you think.
In our case, I think, we do not need to call it as cubrid.org/PROJECT/wordpress, as these applications are not our projects that we work on. So, instead, we could call it cubrid.org/APPS/wordpress, i.e. use 'apps' for the category name.
Overall, the draft looks pretty fine for me. What we could add as well is under the application description the "language: PHP, .NET, Python…." and, maybe, author for those cases if the application is ported by another person like Wordpress.
Sure, we can add description field to this module so that it fits our needs.
A thing that was very strange is that i actually wrote this post 10 days ago, and the message only got sent 2 days ago…
Anyway I will create this module for XE starting from 31 this month as I will be in vacation next week and the Monday after that. I will keep you posted as thing progress with the module.
