CompacT web server is a pre-configured and fully portable WebServer.
It consists of a slimed-down apache with php for local development.
No SSL / https support
Double click the required launchers / links. The launchers will show an icon in
the Windows taskbar notification area ("systray") if the component has been
started sucessfully, and automatically quit / close if the component stops, e.g.
due an error. (Please note that starting a component may cause it to fail after
a few seconds only, so watch out / hover the mouse over the icon to check it's
running sucessfully). You can stop components by double-clicking the icon.
If the component does not start, check it is already running, and stop it
manually (look for httpd task for apache in task manager)
Includes MariaDB (MySQL also works). As database clients both phpMyAdmin and
HeidiSQL are included. Latest versions ship with the packed phpMyAdmin zip file,
plus a php script, which will automatically install/extract when first used.
Takes a few minutes, but saves me issues uploading to SourceForge SVN. Also now
only ships english language only (to reduce extraction issues)
The latest launcher includes a full GUI. Right-click on the icon in the Windows
taskbar notification area ("systray") to open up. Also supports zip/7z packs to
reduce download / storage size.
The Multi-Mix version supports multiple php versions, especially usefull when
you need to upgrade a very old project, so you can easily switch between php
versions.
Only distribute original (unmodified) packages.
For the current / latest versions, go to the SVN of the desired version, and
download the snapshot.
