Yes, I am sure.  Libtool warns and doesn't actually apply the library. 
It records the library as a dependency in the .la file so that 
applications linked to the shared library (linked using libtool) also 
pick up the static library.  If an application doesn't use libtool to 
do the link, then they need to manually add the link dependency.
