[Ctags] ctags error: unrecognized option `--format=2'^@^ITry `ctags --help'

I installed ctags utility(5.4) in my solaris machine (5.8) and I download the
taglist.vim (v2.3) from 
http://vim.sourceforge.net/scripts/script.php?script_id=273. Whenever I do the
following, I got an error

1. gvim /tmp/a.C
2. :Tlist 

Here is the error message

ctags: unrecognized option `--format=2'^@^ITry `ctags --help' for a complete
list of options.^@    

Does anyone in here has the simliar problem and know how to fix it?
