We're trying to make patterns based on pixel art. We could upscale it and then use one of the other squaring options, but that seems like unnecessary complication for what should be a simple conversion.
With support from code contributions by Simon Norberg, this is now available in the latest version of cstitch, 0.9.6, which can be downloaded now.
For other people reading this, I'll just point out that, unless your pixel art image is quite small, doing a 1-1 squaring is probably not what you want, since the effect is to create one pattern square for each pixel in your original image. So if your original image is even 300x300 pixels, which is relatively small for images these days, you'll still wind up with a pattern with 90,000 squares. So for images that aren't really small, scaling the original image up outside of cstitch and then using a square size larger than one will probably still be necessary/preferred in some cases.

Looks like cstitch can handle pixel art now.
