When I try opening a saved project file, the program crashes just after filling the status bar for "Creating image: 9/12, 10/12, 11/12, 12/12"

The error message is simply: "cstitch_0.9.6_win32.exe has stopped working"

I'm using Windows 8.1.

Could you email your project file to me at tomklein@users.sourceforge.net? Thanks.

Record update: Barry sent me his project file back on 7/28/15 and I looked at it and got back to him the same day - the project had Image 14 listed as the current square image, but there was no square image 14 saved in the project, so when cstitch restored the project it tried to set the current project to a non-existent image and crashed.

I was able to remove the reference to Image 14 from the project file and returned the file to Barry in a usable state with most of his original data, but data on at least Image 14 was permanently lost.

I reviewed the save and restore project code and found a couple of bugs, both of which should be fixed in version 0.9.7, which is now publicly available.

Since I couldn't reproduce the exact situation I saw in Barry's project file, I'm going to leave this bug open for the time being. If anybody sees a similar loss of data or crashing on saving or loading a project, please email me at tomklein@users.sourceforge.net or create a new bug. Thanks!
