Steps to install a dev version
- Activate development application on your android :
- Go to the phone settings (On home screen, press menu > Settings (or use the Settings app)
- Click on Application menu
- Tick unknown sources (allow installation of non market application)
- Get the application apk on your smartphone
List of current apk are available here : Nightly builds website or mirror just go on your pc/mac browser on the page and scan the qr code on screen. If you are using your smartphone browser, just click on the download link.
* To download on your smartphone there is several ways : * Download directly from your smartphone * Alternatively you can download the application on your pc and then push it on the sdcard connecting your phone on usb and mounting it. (In this case, for installation you'll need a file explorer application to be able to click on the install file and launch the installation.)
- Install the application
- If you are running a recent android version, just clicking on the downloaded file will launch the android installer.
- Then follow instruction on screen (just press Install ;) )
- If clicking on the downloaded file does nothing or if you use the alternate download way and put the .apk file on your sd, you can use any of the file explorer application available on the market. Majority of this apps support apk installation.
That's it. CSipSimple dev version is installed. If you need to report logs on it, follow instructions here : HowToCollectLogs
Keep up to date
Using development version you'll be automatically upgraded from nightly build channel. You can subscribe the on rss feed to know more about updates content.

Just for information :
It's still important to uninstall previous version. Even if it doesn't crash, by not uninstalling, you'll continue using the old native sip stack.
If no changes has been done between the market and the development version it's not so important.

Yes just install the new file version (no need to uninstall the previous one upgrade is done automatically). All dev versions are compatibles.

Devs versions should now be compatible with market version, so you can try to directly install the dev version without uninstalling.
However, to be sure, there is a feature in CSipSimple to backup your configuration (I'm not sure if it's fully working in the market version but you could try). > Go in Accounts > press menu key > Backup/restore

Just installed nightly build r880 ver. Unable to register for all my 8 SIP accounts. Getting message 'Error while registering' or 'Registration Failed'. Have to go back to earlier build. Please look into the issue. Also please let me know where do I report bug related to new nightly build ?

How can I build the "gingerbread" version? The prebuilt .apks work on my Nexus S, but when I build the source using SDK 2.3.1 the app runs, but does not do anything on the network, e.g. accounts created are unable to do SIP REGISTER or anything else. I've looked with wireshark and my build does NO network activity when it runs. HELP!

How do I get the source code for TLS Build? The Nightly Build Links only show compiled APKs. And the source link only shows the default ( svn checkout http://csipsimple.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ csipsimple-read-only ). Is there an svn for TLS like svn checkout http://csipsimple.googlecode.com/svn/tls/ csipsimple-read-only. I've tried this but it hasn't worked.

@abaines.. : The difference of TLS / trunk / Ginger / amrv4 ... builds are just flags changed on the exact same code than the one you get from trunk. You should read the wiki page about HowToBuild, I explain each options and how to make your custom builds with your own options (tls/codecs/audio implementation/....)

I was trying to install csipsimple nightlies build on Galaxy Tab 10.1n, but when I try to run the app this send a Error in the initial step (don't get up the app).
i don't know but maybe csipsimple nightlies build not support in Galaxy Tab 10.1n.
