What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.make calls using 3g or wifi
2.callee picks up
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
After a pause I can hear the calllee but he only hears a low gutteral frog sound when i speak.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using the latest market version although i have tried several of the nightlies with the same effect. Android 2.2 droid x verizon. pbxes is set up for sipdroid and google voice.

Please provide any additional information below.
Does not happen all of the time! Things work well for a while, then it reverts to this problem I have tried using all of the 8 khz codecs one at a time with an 8khz clock speed. After a while things work and I think I have the problem fixed until someone calls.

I just tried a call using sipdroid and was surprised to find the same issue so I guess this is a pbxes problem and you are off the hook. Still, any advice would be appreciated! :)

Did you try *43 (echo test)? To make sure that's not linked to the remote party or the trunk with GV? (Sometimes there is some bad dsp on sip servers so that trunks becomes crappy once each a certain number of calls. If *43 echo test result each time in a good quality it's probably cause of something on the server.
If echo test has also the problem worth to try to reboot the phone. (Sometimes, on some devices, android audio layer goes in a weird state and rebooting help).

Do not hesitate to share your findings on this issue.
My first thought on this issue was to link it to issue 671 or issue 601. But if you reproduce with sipdroid and that's only a problem with sound from you to your remote party probably something else indeed.

Well, switching from pbxes to sipgate helped as did getting rid of the stock rom and replacing it with Liberty. I have still noticed this sound from time to time but its rare and can be cured by restarting the phone. My guess is that sipgate is better but its a Droid x problem.

Observations using Liberty are that I must use routing api for the sound to work and audio mode (whatever that is) must be set to "manufacturer extra" to avoid screen freezes.

I am not a developer, just an amateur geek but I must say I am very impressed with what you are doing, writing software that repurposes so many resources in so many types of phones, roms and service providers. Kudos!
