What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. At present we can see only icon on status bar when registered with sip account but we can't see how many accounts are registered out of total accounts configured with csipsimple. Some times one or two account are not registered due to technical reasons.
2.
3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Small icon with number would be great idea to see number of account working / registered. (Just like gmail showing number of unread messages)
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
CSipSimple_0.00-15-14-bis.apk on Motorola Milestone
Please provide any additional information below.

You may also add number for unregistered accounts. Suggesting you icon design for the same. Green numbers could be registered accounts and red could be unregistered. Status Icon would look good in colour instead of black.

I would rather like a green/yellow/red status indicator, which signals various states.
Green: all accounts connected
Yellow: 1+ account connecting
Red: no connection at all
This is meant for the "status bar" icon.

Thanks for your reply. Yes that would be better idea. I am updating all your nightly builds and glad to see further developments in application. Recently I noticed that due to unknown reason all SIP accounts are automatically unregistered (disabled)in wifi mode. (Nightly build 614r on Motorola Milestone, Android 2.1v). I turned off wifi and again turn on wifi and all accounts automatically registered again. I such situation, we can not know which accounts are active or inactive so status bar icon with such indications will be very useful tool. I look forward to have it very soon.

Also I noticed (not sure in 614r or 0.01, two or three accounts out of my 8 SIP accounts got disabled in wifi mode and when I turned off wifi and turned on again, they were activated. Also I tried switching on 3G before switching on wifi and they were working on 3G. Please look into it.

Added number of registered accounts in the status bar notification. It use the official way to do so in android.
So no special interface. It will make it more portable.
It is available as an ExpertSettingMode entry. (In User interface).
Fixed in [r785].

Thanks. Now I can see number of registered accounts in status bar. It automatically updates numbers in status bar if non active account gets activated later. I understand limitations of android system for special interface. I am not aware of technicality but can you make the csipsimple icon broad (and also in blue colour as per your website) so logo can be visible ? See attached design.
Once again thanks for accepting request.

It is not possible technically. The size of the status bar is limited.
For the color, android guidelines advise this color. (there is guidelines in the sdk that we should respect to have the app integrated correctly to all devices with all themes.)
However futures versions of csipsimple will allow themes. So this ico could be something themable.
The global app icon also meet these guidelines. Reason why amazingly the gingerbread stock sip icon is almost the same than csipsimple one ;).

Thanks for your prompt response. I notice few coloured icons (Advanced Task Killer, Open Screen Suite etc.) so I thought we can have coloured icon.
Once again thanks for fantastic application. No other SIP applications works like cSipsimple.

We can have a coloured icon, but that's not in android guidelines.
For example I personally does not like advanced task killer icon in notification bar. It's not clean.
I think that android guidelines make really sense. I give an unity to the interface. Apps that do not respect the guidelines are just like android apps that copy the iPhone interface (with a back button and a save botton in a navigation bar).
The reference
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_status_bar.html
You'll see that coloured icons are not advised. I think that to provide a good user experience we should keep these guidelines and the entire spirit of the android os in the app.
