There is already an option for that:
In settings press menu and switch to expert mode.
Then go in user interface section and enable keep awake while in call.
It is an option that is by default enabled on htc devices cause they have a bug : psp mode bug.
It only affect wifi connection on htc so the option only affect behaviour on wifi.
Let me know if it helps on steack so that I do something to automatically turn the setting on for Dell too.

With "with enable keep awake while in call" the audio works like a charm! When the proxi sensor activates the display shows a "lock" icon but isn't switched off, and audio keeps being good.

Ok great, that's the behavior on htc devices that also have the PSP mode.

So now, I'll need logs (in fact device code name) to be able to turn the option automatically on in settings at first run of the app for dell streak 2.2.
The easier way is to use the help menu (in dialer), press start recording logs, then press menu again and help and stop & send logs. It should propose you to send me directly logs (that include the device name).

You can also use an deviceInfo application available on the market if previous process doesn't work.

    Thanks in advance
