Then as it doesn't receive any feedback from the remote party (as the remote party never receive any BYE command), it wait until either it get a feedback or it timeout...
So you can press the end button all the time you want, it will just end the call effectively after the timeout.

I've still to find a way to reproduce that on my side (only appear under certain configuration and with special remote part). But I've already reproduced that once while trying to do something that is not allowed in sip (trying to call directly another device announcing my private IP instead of my true SIP domain. But I guess there is other cases for which it could appear.
