During a call the volume adjustment doesn't work.  When adjusting it with the side volume buttons a volume adjust bar shows up and changes, but the sound volume level stays the same.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 13 on a Samsung Galaxy S running 2.1

    You should try the latest build -13-02 available on the download section. WARNING : remove the market version before installing this one

    On the market version there is bug with speakerphone that is activated. See issue 145.

    However, I'm not sure that volume adjustment works. I've borrowed a galaxy S to a friend to be able to fix the speakerphone issue. But I'd not really the time to play with sound volume.
    However, a workaround could be to finely set the value of speaker amplification in settings > media. For now could do the trick to have something useable.
    I'll try to borrow again next week the phone of my colleague to be able to check volume issue. (But I've also another idea for volume adjustment while in call that doesn't use android API, that is not well implemented by Samsung !)

    If you can test -13-02 and say me if it's better with volume. But I don't think so. At least, it will route the audio through earpiece and it will avoid echo ;)

    Ok, it confirm my guess.

    I'll have a closer look to the issue volume issue when I'll have the phone on my hand to test on.
    I added precision in the title of the bug, since actually only reproducible on Galaxy S i9000.. Samsung did something really crappy on their audio implementation on this phone. A shame regarding the rest of the device that's really nice :). There is only 3 bad points : their audio implementation that gives me headaches, the fact it took them a lot of time to upgrade to 2.2 and the miss of a flash... ;)

    Hi, in theory -13-02 should solve the problem but has not the defaults settings to remove all the echo (speaker and micro were too loud).

    So, just install the last dev version 0.00-15-04, it should update the default settings of CSipSimple if Galaxy S is detected.

    I'll release soon a new dev version that fix this particular bug (about in call volume control).

    I'm also interested if you install 0.00-15-04 if there is no voice quality regression. (I recently did changes that were not validated by galaxy S owners) -- (you could try 0.00-15-01 also if you find a regression in voice quality in 0.00-15-04.

    For guys who want to test the fix (in fact, I'd say the workaround);
    * Install the 0.00-15-05
    * Go in settings. Here press menu and choose "Expert mode"
    * Enter Media section and scroll to "Use software volume". Tick the check box to enable the option.
    * Back & Back to go the dialer... Enjoy ;).

    When you'll press the volume button you'll see the global amplification settings from the software instead of seeing the unworking android volume controller. Be really careful cause on your phone, the speaker already have a big gain. So I advise you to keep the value as lower as possible to not produce echo on the remote contact side.

    Like for the android volume popup, this popup will vanish after 5 second when controlled from the volume key.
    But ... there is a way to show this popup using Menu (while on the in call screen) and "Media" (and it will not quit until you say "Ok" or press back button once). You can also adjust micro control here and also enable or disable echo cancellation
    (but this echo cancellation is not designed by pjsip guys to cancel sound if it's too loud from your rear-speaker or earpiece and is recorder back from the mic).

    Let me know how it goes. Also interested about voice quality with this version (as said in previous comment).

    Using a Galaxy S I9000 with 2.2. I am using the latest CSipSimple from the market (0.00-16 [r410]). Just letting you know what I have found:

    "Use Software Volume" doesn't affect the in call volume *unless* you have the "Media" popup open at the same time! With the "Media" popup open I can see the volume moving up and down when pressing the hardware volume control.
