The pixmaps are by default in /usr/local/lib/cscmail/pixmaps/THEME

but CSCMail looks in ~/.cscmailrc for a tag
PixmapDir: /usr/local/lib/cscmail/pixmaps/aqua (or whatever theme)

Make sure that the PixmapDir tag in your rc points to a dir that exists and
contains pixmaps... (make sure it doesn't point to, say:
/usr/local/lib/cscmail/pixmaps (no theme) )
