Many clients - at least in Windows - allow for the client to use an external virus scanner to determine if attachments and other content could pose a risk to the system. This would be beneficial to others not using CSCMail as it would lessen the risk of passing on a virus in an attachment. Sure it would be done in the MTA, but not everyone uses one. At least for the time being, I download my mail off of the school MTA's, and I still check for virii myself - they have gotten through. ** I haven't had the time to set up my own MTA yet, but will get to it hopefully in the near future. ** In any case, having the option to execute an external virus scanner would be useful, and is a worthy pursuit. I'm not sure it is something we should devote lots of time to, but if people want to help better the system by adding frivolous items like this, then so be it! Witness |
