I do use wget ! Pearhaps the installer users fixed paths? (SuSE: /usr/bin/wget)
I'm behind my firewall, normally passive is necessary....

no, it doesn't use fixed paths... You need to pass wget the args for passive or I know the one for ncftpget CSCMailInstaller.pl "ncftpget -f" between the quotes place the options for wget or whatever program to recognize your firewall etc..
