Just my 2 cents: It look like a ssh connection, something like a svn/cvs it use ssh. Have you try a simple "Enter Key" as Password ? The best recommendation at this point is probably to check config.log to see what the configure script was actually trying to do at that point. |

Hello :D I was following the building guide for Planeshift linux (debian) at http://svn.code.sf.net/p/planeshift/code/trunk/docs/compiling.html When I arrive to step : Crystal Space (CS) Now we can build it and use the configure line to tell it where we installed the cal3d libraries. To do this, use the prefix line that was used for Cal3d above. $HOME/development/cs$ ./configure --without-java --without-perl --without-python --without-3ds --with-cal3d=$HOME/development/cal3d The configure process runs and at the end it asks me about a password. Is the code protected and I need to login on some place? config.status: creating Jamfile config.status: executing include/csconfig.h commands config.status: executing Jamconfig commands config.status: executing Makefile commands The authenticity of host 'crystalspace3d.org (217.115.131.45)' can't be established. RSA key fingerprint is 9b:55:7a:fe:ea:aa:0e:71:ea:74:65:da:0a:06:91:15. Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?yes cr...@cr...'s password: and I stopped here. Some guidance should be appreciated. I asked about this on the IRC channel but I don't use to be logged so often recently. There is also a PS threat forum opened at More info on: http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=42174 http://pastebin.com/29mN26x6 Thanks for reading :) -- "El cielo es para los dragones lo que el agua es para las ninfas" |

Unfortunatelly due to lack of time the project is actually at a standstill. I still very much would like to still this going but I can no longer commit the needed time into this to actually lead this project. I would *love* to be part of a team for this project but I would actually like to see someone take over the lead role and making sure things keep on rolling. I stand corrected about the file naming used in the tutorial documentation. The files 'simple.h' and 'simple.cpp' should properly be created by the user and built from scratch according to the steps in the docs. This is what is done in the first page of the 'simple' tutorial and I missed it. Please ignore the file name changes which I attempted to force in my previous posts to this list. Other changes which I noted in my posts, are still valid. |

Using CS 2.1 under Kubuntu 14.04, I have found some mistakes in the doc text and code and propose a fix to make the tutorial actually work as expected. When attempting to run Tutorial 2, I find a set of doc instructions less than clear: From: CS/docs/html/manual/Simple-Loading-Material.html The following text from this doc page is a problem: ... 4.2.2.1 Loading a Material in Memory ... Then, we edit ‘simple.cpp’ and add the following in Simple::Application() and Simple::CreateSprites() (before ‘return true’): bool Simple::Application() { ... CreateSprites(); ... return true; } ... void Simple::CreateSprites() { // Load a texture for our sprite. iTextureWrapper* txt = loader->LoadTexture ("spark", "/lib/std/spark.png"); if (txt == 0) ReportError("Error loading texture!"); } ... The first sentence, above, explaining where to place this code is NOT correct. The file name should be 'simple1.cpp' and the sentence should read something like this: "Then, we edit ‘simple1.cpp’ and add the following method call in Simple::Application() (before ‘return true’) and also add the new method: Simple::CreateSprites()." ============ MY FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM ================ The sprite will NOT display wen using the above code, even after adding all of the code specified in the following pages of the tutorial. The exact place to insert the call to CreateSprites() in Simple::Application is NOT clear, it needs some change in the doc text itself. I don't know exactly where the original author intended this method call to be placed... I was able to place code in simple1.cpp, in the method Simple::OnKeyboard (), which will cause the sprite to be displayed upon entering the keystroke 's': ... bool Simple::OnKeyboard (iEvent& ev) { // We got a keyboard event. csKeyEventType eventtype = csKeyEventHelper::GetEventType (&ev); if (eventtype == csKeyEventTypeDown) { ... // display a sprite if (code == 's') { CreateSprites(); } } return false; } ... I think this approach to displaying the sprite actually makes more sense in terms of learning how to use CS. ================================================= Next, moving on to the following tutorial page: CS/docs/html/manual/Simple-Creating-Mesh.html The page title and first sentence reads as follows: 4.2.2.3 Creating a Mesh from a Factory To create a mesh just add the following code in Simple::CreateSprites() (before ‘return true’ and after the code we just added to load the mesh factory): void Simple::CreateSprites () { ... } The problem is that the method, Simple::CreateSprites(), is declared as type VOID and does NOT return anything, so this sentence should read something like this: "To create a mesh just add the following code in Simple::CreateSprites() (after the code we just added to load the mesh factory):" |

I have installed CS 2.1 and it compiles and runs. When attempting to install CEL 2.1 I find that the environment variable CEL is not well defined in the documentation. I have used this in my Kubuntu profile: Note that my home directory <me> is deliberately obfuscated here, but is correct in the actual file. The problem appears to be the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable, which I cannot find defined or an example given in the docs. ... # set environment var for Crystal Space export CRYSTAL="/home/<me>/Dev/CS" export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/home/<me>/Dev/CS export CEL="/home/<me>/Dev/cel" export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/home/<me>/Dev/cel What is the correct way to set these environmental vars? |

I'm running Kubuntu 14.04 LTS, up-to-date installation on a Dell D820 laptop. I first ran this apt-get install for CS dependencies: |sudo apt-get install build-essential autoconf libtool pkg-config jam subversion swig doxygen bison flex libcppunit-dev libx11-dev mesa-common-dev libxaw7-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libxext-dev libxxf86vm-dev libxrender-dev nvidia-current-dev nvidia-cg-toolkit zlib1g-dev libfreetype6-dev libjpeg-dev libmng-dev libpng12-dev liblcms-dev libcairo-dev libcairomm-1.0-dev libgtk2.0-dev libwxbase2.8-dev libwxgtk2.8-dev libasound-dev libopenal-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev libspeex-dev python-dev libode-dev lib3ds-dev libcal3d-dev I then installed CEGUI from the Kubuntu repository. |I tried "configure" and "make" using the CS 2.0 code downloaded from here: "http://www.crystalspace3d.org/main/Download" and it failed with multiple errors. I'm assuming this is due to the use of earlier library versions in that version. ========= I then pulled a copy of the current SVN snapshot of CS 2.1 (08/04/2014) and ran "configure" and "make"... There are still multiple instances of warning about deprecated function names, the single most common is the call to iCameraSectorListener which is deprecate to iCameraListener. NOTE that there are other deprecated function calls. I cannot locate a make log to report these. The "make" required well over two hours of processor time, but it did complete without errors. I'll run the "make install' and report on that after it completes. I note that this mail list has become silent for several months... I hope that does not reflect a lack of development work? |

The access to the CS UI has changed a few months ago, now you need to select the "CrystalSpace" render view such as explained at http://www.crystalspace3d.org/docs/online/manual/io_005fscene_005fcs-Installing.html#4. Would it be the problem you were having? Otherwise, is there some relevant messages on the Blender console window? The only issue at present is what to do about Crazy Eddies GUI lib as it is not packaged for RHEL/CentOS. Current thinking is for me to package it for us myself based on relevant Fedora source packages. Regards Phil -- Phil Wyett { GNU Linux User and Developer IRC: philwyett Twitter: philwyett } |

Sory .. I 'didnt wrote why some are missng.. At time I was downloading some of dependencyes withour any release, like sources from sourceforge.. some dependencies didn't gave me options, or I didn't finded, option for folder releases ( compatible with Cs) Since the wore optional after loosing some time.. I've decided to go on without some of them... By with this new release with dependencies this "user-friendly-installation-issue" will improve alot the "quickstart" with the Engine.. BTW Great Work! Will this by an Binary release, including cs binaries with correct dependencies ?? The reason of my questions is because sometimes, in some distribuitons (linux or gnu/linux :P) is very disturbing to downgrade a lot of specific lib/dependencies (or upgrade) and I've had a lot of trouble to compiling it correctly last time (on centos). Binary releases with theirs specific dependencies with the correct/supporte version bundled makes the engine a little more 'user-friendly' if I may say.
