    I know most map editing is done with HL/QIII editors and them map2cs, but has anyone considered making a CS-specific map editor to help with placing entities that are specific to CS (i.e. semi-dynamic lights)?

    I was thinking something along the lines of a plugin for the Radiant editor. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel before I start hacking...

      I think that solc is for CS.

        Ooooooooh - riiight. Didn't know 'bout that. I'll hack with that.

        Kinda looks like DoomEd right now ;)

        Finally tried to compile and install solc - it doesn't fit in the current CS distro. It looks like they were discouraged by the release of Blender (altho it looks like Blender is missing a good deal of functionality) and no CVS commits have been made in the past 30 days. Seems like the project isn't really online right now.

        So I guess I'll keep looking.

      Here are some projects that I found here on SourceForge (none of them with workable CS map editors yet):

      - Miss Mapple http://mapedit.sourceforge.net/
      Alpha version out, but no real functionality

      - QuArK++ http://quarkplusplus.sourceforge.net/
      Nothing released

      - James Hunger, CS Erector, Crystal Planet
      Nothing, not even a page

      So lots of people trying to do something, just nothing has gotten off the ground. Currently the most promising thing appears to be Miss Mapple or solc, but solc hasn't seen development for five months and Miss Mapple hasn't had a commit for seven months.

      This kinda brings me back to a plugin for Radiant, so no one has to reinvent the wheel (which seems to be discouraging people in the first place). Or maybe I should just shut up and be happy with Quake/HL map conversion.

      I can not help, but a plug in for Radiant would be the best/easy/quick solution. A plug in for blender would be nice too, but quite hard I suposse.

      The people of solc are looking for help.  If anyone is interested?

      I need/am going to make a 3d real time wysiwyg editor for a crystal space rpg creator i'm calling Eureka3d.........it would allow you to place objects on the terrain as you would see them in the game.....i got tired and frustrated with those crappy little 2d rpg makers out there...so...it might take me a while...but it's gonna get done
