It would help if you said more information. I've compiled the latest 'stable' 2.0 release, ran ./compile and it's only included openal, opengl, python and zlib. Rather than using more bandwidth for the 2015_9_12 release (today!) I get the .diff.update file with no explanation on how to use it... or the checksum.. mac/debian/linux/hl2sdk all over again argh!

There are some (probably quite a few) changes in the Subversion repository since the 2.0 release, and those changes are in the daily snapshot. However, since the project has effectively been dead for serveral years, changes are quite rare. The .diff file contains just the differences between daily snapshots, and would normally be applied with the patch utility, however, because there are no recent changes, the .diff is empty, thus nothing to apply.

As for the checksum(s), they are not cryptographically secure, and are present only to verify that the file didn't get corrupted during download (which is quite rare these days). You'd check the downloaded file against the checksum with the md5 or md5sum utility (depending upon which is available on your platform).

Shame.. CS looked promising... esp. with a guy using mac/linux and Windows.... C++... sound, physics... game properties..
I was going to start with Blender.. knew about Orge, I may try that(?) I've installed HL2SDK and Unreal 4 editor.. I really wanted HL1.. games go for looks these days.. What is a good engine to go for?.... to add, I don't want to go mad to start off with. All I wanted was a simple FPS, HL1 maps, no major details (quick maps focusing on story). Just good sexy old school graphics and the ability to add text to screen (maybe alter colour, fades, fonts etc.) which was possible in HL with a text file. Cross Doom, HL, Unreal.
