It seems Cryptonit binds with LDAPv2. But it should
bind with LDAPv3 to a server since LDAPv2 defines
different character set and protocol behaviour.

I think this causes this error:

Cryptonit: getentry.c:36: ldap_first_entry: Assertion
`chain != ((void *)0)' failed.

My /var/log/messages shows the following messages
generated by OpenLDAP 2.3.20:
