alright, i looked into test vectors and did some preliminary work on
them. i also looked at writing the Documentation/cryptoapi.txt digests
section and wrote a bit of it.
also, the top level Makefile now uses your version target to grab the
kernel version, so it is no longer necessary to define it.
(i checked in the makefile solely)
