The sound support is nice, but does not work effectively for gcfclient while using sawfish/gnome. The reason: /dev/dsp is in use because opening a window causes sawfish/gnome to emit a sound while the client is trying to request your username/password.
I figure, technically, this isn't a bug, but a feature request.
Current work arounds involve turning off sound support in sawfish/gnome, or using cfclient.

I imagine if we wait long enough, esd will go away to be
replaced by yet some other sound system.
In any case, as noted in that other bug, it is likely
someone who actually uses such an environment will have to
write up the code.
