Wraiths are supposed to have +100 vs ghost hit (and it
shows up as such in resistances), However, whenever a
ghost does it's suicide attack it does full damage. I
don't think the attack type for this is correct, since
I should take no damage at all.
If it is designed to be this way, then I don't
understand what ghost hit is, because I have never seen
them attack in any other way.

My guess is that most (all?) monsters that attack with
ghosthit also have another attacktype, typically cold.

The way the attack code works (for both player and
monsters) is that the best attack is used against the
opponent. If 100% resistant to ghosthit, that then means cold.

I'd expect any other items, like the holy shield, that also
give ghosthit protection have a similar issue.

It may be reasonable to treat the ghosthit attacktype like
magic is - it is effectively a modifier, so if character
protected from ghosthit, they are also protected from the
other attacktype. But that gets messy.

It may be more reasonable to remove the extra attacktypes
so that things like ghosts only hit with ghosthit - ghosthit
protection is really hard to come by, so this change
wouldn't really weaken the monsters at all.

Extremely messy! Many high lvl angels, evil masters, etc etc
have ghosthit as one of their many attack types. Now a ring
of Miracles, or some weapon (dont remember its name) make
    you immune for these monsters.

i think this affects only ghosts and wraiths - for other
monsters are high lvl and such - so removing all but
    ghosthit would do.

How about a resolution of making it so ghosts aren't suicidal when attacking when it's the cold attacktype that's active?

the entire ghosthit thing always seemed a bit weird to me - it was more a description of what happened to the creature when it attacks (it disappears).

In my ideal world, ghosthit should become something like negative energy, and there should be a seperate field or the like which says the monster disappears after hitting something (so you could have fire creatures that die after attacking also, etc). In this model, most undead should only have that negative energy attack, and not cold, etc.

Closing old discussion ticket on ghosthit and game impact.
