Why can't you continue to install manually?
The plain zip file is still there, its called "source install package"

Is that different than what he is talking about?  source install has 
never included any binaries.

Hello all.

Sorry for being a newbie.
I always install Vim manually, that is by unzipping the compressed 
runtime files and executables. This manually installed folder of mine, 
has received way too many customizations to be discarded, so i wish that 
i knew how to add cream to this thing, whithout using the exe installed 
for windows.

Please point me to the proper direction.

Our package no longer does, but I believe some individuals still
provide these. We stopped, because upgrading only binaries completely
misses the largest portion of bug fixes--in the runtime files.

Never mix user-customized files with the standard ones of an
application. The result is exactly your dilemma. The proper place for
Vim customizations on Windows is $HOME/_vimrc. New installs will not
affect this path.

Then, once you've separated your customizations from Vim, you can
easily run Cream. To add your own flavor back in, simply source your
custom _vimrc from $HOME\.cream\cream-user:

  :source $HOME\_vimrc

or copy them into your cream-user.
