From within an existing Vim seission, I'm not sure this will work
since some Cream initialization is required prior to the GUI start.
Within Cream there is a process to switch between Vi, Vim, and Cream
behavior with a huge amount of overhead (see cream-behave.vim).

Why not put your commands in a function, then everything will be
treated as normal mode by default (Vim and Cream)? I can't really
describe how to wrap Cream, since it is itself a wrapper for gVim.
