I'd like to nominate David Ploog to become our sixth team member. I'd like to do so because: =20 1. He's smart and dedicated. 2. He's already doing as much as one would imagine from a team member, so we might as well formalize it. 3. He's already playing quite a formal role (de facto documentation czar), might as well formalize that as well. 4. 2. and 3. are already giving him a lot of power; he might as well get a corresponding level of responsibility. 5. He has strong opinions. We need people with strong opinions. 6. It'd make us the only roguelike dev/des-team in the world to have 2 mathematicians and 2 non-programmers. 7. Having no tiebreaker vote will make us go crazy, and everybody knows crazy people are geniuses. =20 Unfortunately we have no decision-making model for decisions like this. I was thinking of holding a discussion on our decision-making system first and making this nomination after it was settled, but that would feel a bit... awkward. Just this once, let's assume we all have a veto, since if even one of us doesn't want the team to have a new member, we'll all feel bad with the decision in the future. But we really do need some agreement about what's strong enough agreeement for future decisions. :-) =20 e. |
