Freeing 'v' sounds good to me. It's just streamlining. Does the inventory screen have room for a helpful "press a letter to examine the item" message? > Here's the new suggestions: > > m: make use of wielded item (was Evoke) _or_ > v: evoke (was E) v is handier in my opinion, easier to reach if you play with rogue keys. And I do. :) > t: tell monsters (was !) -- we may keep ! as a synonym if we like it Yup, ! is used quite often. It's not too clumsy, but 't' might be quicker as one gets used to it. > PS: For convenience, here's the list of suggested changes again: > Z: zap wand > z: cast spell Good in my opinion, of course trashes the conventions. But that's how it should be. > C: close door > O: open door Ok. I use ctrl-dir anyway.. or just walk towards the door. Some games give you a "you bump into the door" message. Now that's unfriendly. > o: autoexplore This is a change I'm not 100% sure about - autoexploring is kind of a major move, and one might strike 'o' accidentally, whereas (key)+o is less likely. I should probably test this before commenting, and I take people have already, and have found it ok. > Ctrl-O: show dungeon overview > c: chop up (i.e. dissect corpse) > (also change the synonym for 'y' in the prompt from 'D' to 'c') Ok. The more streamlined dissection in general is great. And the modified praying (i.e. no need to dedicate kills), even if I recall I thought it might not be as atmospheric or something.. I guess it's "chopping up" now, not dissecting. --Eino > D: show experience (was C) > ?V: show version (was V) > > I would like to make '&' in the drop menu (which now selects carrion at the > moment) also select rotten food/corpses -- except for ghouls. > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft > Defy all challenges.
