A new study shows that the average smartphone user has 30 apps on their phone, and the majority of them are gaming apps. 35% of these users play games daily, the most of any app category. 78% of gamers play with their apps for more than 6.5 hours per week. 51% of gamers are female. This means that developers have the potential to keep users coming back for more and monetize them effectively. Apple shut down all major VPN apps in China, which previously let users get around government censorship. Apple emailed the app makers informing them that their apps would no longer be accessible on the App Store in China. This move is a huge setback for free internet capabilities in China. Apple’s relationship with the Chinese government is becoming more important than ever, but many are calling for Apple to take a stand against Beijing to make the internet more accessible across the globe. Advertisers looking to combat fraud today often have to pay for an external service or engage in a lengthy dispute process with networks to recover lost spend. In response, ironSource launched the Active Protect program, which aims to prevent fraud on non-SDK traffic by blocking fraudulent or manipulated traffic in real-time, and re-crediting participating advertisers with spend that fell outside the thresholds for potentially suspicious traffic.
