Get the lastest snapshot (1.9.11) and try using the following configure
line:

./configure CXX=CC CXXFLAGS="-pta -instances=static -mt
-xtarget=generic -g -features=no%transitions
-xildoff" LD=CC LDFLAGS=-xildoff
