I checked with some others about telling the difference between OS X and
OS < X. I have not been able to locate any way of telling the compile
time environments apart.

I would recommend not adding this feature until I have more information
in support of OS X.

It may be useful to add the config-mac file to the project but not
integrate it into Portability.h. A note at the top of the file would be
useful.

Just some suggestions.
