[Cppqed-support] Retained vs dummy indices

Dear András,

just a quick question:

In section 4 of your recent paper you state that the set of retained index 
positions is an information available at compile time, while the set of dummy 
indices is an information becoming available only at runtime.

Why is that? This is not clear to me, as the layout of the system is known at 
compile time, and I would think the set of dummy indices is just the 
complement of the set of the retained indices in the set of all indices.
