It is confusing the way the kernel version have jumped: Linux 0.1.x Linux 1.0.x Linux 1.1.x Linux 1.2.x Linux 1.3.x Linux 2.0.x Linux 2.2.x Linux 2.4.x Linux 2.6.x Linux 3.0.x With a Drupal-like two digit system, the versioning path is much more predictable, and more importantly, clearer to understand.
