I just took the typedef patch, which worked fine.  Thanks much.

The other patch was for the and/not/or broken compiler thing, which I
fixed temporarily with the include.  Whatever the collective decision is
about how to solve that in the repository is fine with me- I'll get it
when it comes out in 0.5
