The CommonC++ Libraries announce merge with APE

Due to many compounding factors, the development of the project "Common C++ Libraries (cplusplus)" has to cease.

However, a related project - APE - has agreed to take on the work done so far, and integrate it into an ever increasing base of functionality already present and form a new combined project that will retain the Common C++ name.

This new project will contain all that is found in APE today and all the best elements of CommonC++.

In particular, the APE thread, socket, and file class libraries along with the Common C++ persistance, math, and html libraries, will provide the core of the new combined project. APE support for highly portable development under Unix (posix) and win32 systems will be retained and extended to Common C++ class libraries.

To this end, I Daniel Silverstone (Kinnison) do hereby pass over all copyright and rights to and over the sourcecode held in the Common C++ Libraries CVS Repository, as of the date of this announcement, to David Sugar of the Open Source Telecommunications Company (dyfet).

The APE project on sourceforge will be maintained in order to support the existing codebase, whilst the Common C++ project will be administrated jointly between myself and dyfet, in order to facilitate the merge into the Common C++ project

In line with this merger, the APE project will be renaming itself to "Common C++ - A Portable Application Framework" in the near future.

Once again, thanks go to Sourceforge for making the development of these libraries possible and for facilitating this fortuitous merge.
