Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Submitted By: Benoit Leraillez (leraillez) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Foreign keyboard error list and possible solution Initial Comment: To use almost all you keys as they are supposed to be between VNC and a Mac running ARD you have to choose a US keyboard and play with the capslock and the shift key to find your French keyboard. You will find hereunder the keyboard result of a powerbook using VNC and what is written on a G4. They are both running Tiger. Use a fixed width font to have a better view. A tough character is "8" since you have to switch from US to shift-French to type it (on my machine at least). The "#@_" are nowhere but I haven't tried the alt and alt-shift mapping (the Euro symbol is good though ;-) If you use French Keyboard 27e%ù9se1cq0) qwertyuiop 4 asdfghjkl,u .zxcvbn;mM- If you use French keyboard capslock 7E%ù9SE1CQ0) QWERTYUIOP 4 ASDFGHJKL?U .ZXCVBN;MM- If you use French keyboard Shift 312345678905° QWERTYUIOP * ASDFGHJKL?53 /ZXCVBN+/++ If you use US keyboard True French version s&é"'(§è!çà)- @&é"'(§è!çà)- azertyuiop^$ azertyuiop^$ qsdfghjklmù` qsdfghjklmù` <wxcvbn,;:= <wxcvbn,;:= If you use US Caps-lock True French version S&É"'(§È!çÀ)- @&É"'(§È!çÀ)- AZERTYUIOP^$ AZERTYUIOP^$ QSDFGHJKLMù` QSDFGHJKLMù` <WXCVBN?;:= <WXCVBN,;:= If you use US shift True French version #1234567*90°+ #1234567890°_ AZERTYUIOP¨* AZERTYUIOP¨* QSDFGHJKLM%£ QSDFGHJKLM%£ >WXCVBN?./+ >WXCVBN?./+ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Jason Harris (smeger) Date: 2005-08-17 06:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=351330 Yes, Ingo, that's absolutely correct. That said, you should definitely try building from CVS. Keyboard mapping was badly broken in 2.0b2 and has been reimplemented for the upcoming 2.0b3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-08-17 06:06 Message: Logged In: NO I think I understand the problem now. Tell me if I am right, please: When I press shift-alt-5 on my german keybord, cotvnc does not send an "[" to the server (as supposed by the keybord-mapping of my Mac), but instead sends "shift-alt-5" to the server? So one quick solution would be somehow install the Mac-Keybord-mapping in the server, if possible? Ingo. As of 7/11/05, Chicken in CVS sends whatever you type, regardless of your keyboard mapping, but in testing, most VNC servers will ignore any high-byte characters, such as accented vowels. Closing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=507159&aid=1200303&group_id=64347 |
