With 2.0b1, if I connect to a machine running the stock VNC server
on Red Hat Linux 7.2, the shift key produces odd accented
characters. For instance, A becomes Á. Talking to the same server,
an A produced by hitting the 'a' key with caps lock on comes out
fine. PowerBook G4/667 (Gigabit Ethernet) with Apple Pro
keyboard. 10.3.5

Same setup talking to a Solaris 8 box, both shift and caps lock work fine.

Solved by adding the profiles section to the preferences file, as described
in bug 1011664. Why, I cannot imagine.
